Ensure your skin is hydrated and prepared for spring

1 April 2019

Winter is behind us at last, the sun is hopefully shining, and people are looking forward to spending more time outside in the fresh air. Over the winter, however, as you’ve spent more time in centrally heated homes and offices, it’s likely your skin has taken a battering, and now needs extra care and attention to ensure a glowing and healthy complexion.

When the temperature drops outside, the natural instinct is to huddle on the sofa, light the wood-burning stove, turn up the heating and generally hibernate, but this is the worst possible way to treat your skin, whatever type you have. Heat dries out skin by reducing humidity and sucking the moisture out. This can lead to rough and flaky patches, cracks, itching, or a feeling of tightness as though your skin is stretched more thinly. Skin conditions such as eczema and atopic dermatitis can also be exacerbated.

So how can you counter all these issues and re-energise your skin?

Hydrate and moisturise

Dull winter-ravaged skin will need extra hydration as well as a gentle and soothing moisturiser. Our Aloe Super Hydrating Moisturiser will luxuriously hydrate your skin, and is particularly beneficial if you have sensitive or dry skin. You can use it all over your body, and it is best when massaged into your skin after a warm shower. It’s one of our most popular products, and contains a high concentration of pure Aloe Vera leaf to soothe, soften, moisturise and heal.

Cleanse and soothe

During the winter, your skin puts up with frequent changes in temperature as you leave your centrally heated house and head out into the frost, snow and wind. These changes dry your skin and can cause the capillaries in your face to expand and contract rapidly, leading to reddened patches and broken veins. Apply our Aloe Cleanse and Soothe which contains a blend of natural ingredients to relieve irritated skin. Organic Aloe Vera, Marshmallow, Chamomile and Calendula all combine in a balanced formula to leave your face refreshed, and help calm any breakouts.

The key ingredient in all Eternal products is Aloe Vera, one of the finest natural moisturisers available. We use an extremely high concentration in order to provide the intensive hydration necessary for tired winter skin.
