Anti-ageing and sun protection – the perfect skincare combination

1 May 2020

As we age our skin goes through a significant change. We’re not just talking about the ‘laughter lines’ that appear around our eyes, but skin can become rougher and more transparent, lose its elasticity, and easily bruise.

There is no fixed age that changes can start, but your diet, stress and lifestyle choices, such as smoking, can have an effect. Additionally, whilst the sun has so many benefits for us, including providing regular doses of vitamin D, it’s not great for the skin. This is why developing a skincare routine to protect the skin as we age is a must.

The anti-aging and sun protection combo

Our anti-ageing skin care range contains green tea extract, which includes the antioxidant polyphenols. This can destroy free radicals and help to slow down the aging process in the skin.

In addition, we add SPF20 (sun protection factor) to our anti-aging creams to help protect the skin from damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays. This means that your skin will be protected from the sun, whilst being hydrated at the same time.

A year-round skin moisturiser

There are two different types of ultraviolet rays; UVA causes the changes that age the skin, whereas UVB causes sunburn and skin cancer.

It’s important to note that UV light given out by the sun isn’t just damaging when the skies are clear and the sun is shining during the summer months. Even when the weather is overcast and raining, harmful UV rays can penetrate the skin, so a cream with SPF qualities offers added benefits.

Additional advantages from natural ingredients

In addition to the anti-aging benefits of green tea extract, our skincare range has many other natural ingredients which can help keep the skin looking its best. The main ingredient throughout our moisturisers and cleansers is Aloe Vera which cools and conditions the skin, but we also include:

• Grapeseed oil which has toning properties
• Almond oil for nourishment
• Shea butter and glycerine to moisturise and soothe
• Rosehip oil which due to its natural vitamin A content is good for acne, scalds, burns and varicose veins
• Hyaluronic Acid which occurs naturally in the body to cushion and lubricate cells
• Roman chamomile extract to help promote cell regeneration
• Calendula oil for relief from sore and itchy skin conditions
• Allantoin, calendula extra, and marshmallow extract which have soothing anti-irritant properties
• Tocopherol acetate which contains vitamin E and antioxidants
• Coconut extract to help dissolve excess grease and dirt
• Oat extract which is a gentle exfoliant and soothes and conditions the skin
• Candelilla wax for its anti-inflammatory properties
• Water for hydration
